As the summer is about the close in just a few shorts weeks, backpacks are being filled with school supplies, new clothes are being purchased and the transition to a new grade, school, or even state or living situation is being reflected upon, we at St. Matthias are preparing for another exciting year of faith formation.
We have been busy planning our GIFT sessions - our monthly, intergenerational gatherings, where all members of the parish community, young and old, come together to learn about a topic. Then, continue exploring that topic throughout the month with their families and friends.
We'll again, we exploring some interesting topics - what the Church teaches about Marriage, and why, how the prophets, especially Isaiah, foretold of the coming of the Messiah, how we are called to live in peace! We are working on inviting guest speakers to the sessions so that our learning can be expanded.
We'll also have a preschool-age breakout session during GIFT this year - so that families with young children can attend the gatherings together; moms and dads won't have to take turns staying home with preschool aged children.
Watch your mail boxes - registration materials are on their way!
