I'm currently a Medieval Christianity class at CSUEB and was interested to find out that it was Pope Gregory IV (Gregory IV argued with Louis the Pious of the Carolingian's about his succession from St. Peter. ) who moved the feast day of All Hallows from May 13th to November 1st - after the harvest, so that Rome would be properly provisioned for the pilgrims who would flock to the city.
